Dear  Parents ,

Happy Diwali ! to all of you. It was an engaging  &  enjoyable  first term session for Sr. K.G Peach.  The time flew so fast, it’s hard to believe that in 4 months time this academic year will be over.

Special thanks to Mrs. Falguni Kamdar   ( Prenitaa’s mother ) for her wonderful` Ganesha  Stories’ session.

Thanks   to   all  the  talented  grandparents who participated in the` Diwali Craft’ activity. As always, we had  a lovely` Rhyme sharing ‘   event ;  wherein all the children participated with enthusiasm & energy. We had  interesting  activities  like  visiting  the  neighborhood  community helpers & also  community helpers as visitors in the school  with their tools, explaining each one of them to the children.

`Garba’ was  an   entertaining  &  rejoicing   experience  for  the  children ,dressed up in all their finery.

It is fulfilling to see that children are attempting to read words / sentences  & also trying to put their thoughts on paper with enthusiasm.  It  is  our  earnest    effort  to  inculcate  good habits / values  along with academics.  We would like to share few ideas with you.  Writing `date’ as a practice while doing any writing work is important as it would serve as a future reference. We make the children write the `date’ , when they do their class work. Similarly, the same habit could be continued at home as well. While writing  H.W & date the following concepts could be reinforced ---before / after numbers, yesterday, today, tomorrow, day of the week & their position, name of the month & their position. And it would also help to understand & compare your child’s performance during a certain period.

Children need to learn to read the sight words, which will help them  to use those words in a functional manner. They need not learn the spellings  but should be able to recognize the word . Expose  children to books and try to be a good reading model.  Provide print – rich environment  that offers reasons to read. Help children to see words & symbols in the environment. All these will help your child to develop their language skills.

Sports practice will begin in full swing from 3/11/ 2011, so please make sure that your child attends school  regularly. School  jackets  & brown canvas shoes ( Velcro) are available at ` Champion Sports ‘.
