Dear Parents, Here is another newsletter for you all. After a brief encounter with jaundice, I am back in action. I cannot thank you enough for your best wishes. I truly and badly needed them. The forceful stay at home was really hard for me. I would also like to take this oppurtunity to welcome our new friends from Nursery Fawn. Frankly speaking it is hard to make out which child belonged to Nursery Fawn, just a couple of weeks ago. We all look alike now !! Deepa di, Rupali Mavashi and me will be helping the children now in Nursery Khaki. Coming back to the month and its activities...... We were discussing about 'community helpers' this month. It would be a nice idea to take your children around when you go to the market and tell them about the importance of every person who helps us. We did the same in the school. We went on a 'school tour'. They could see different people at work and experienced the help we get from them. Starting from the teacher, to the mavashi, to security mavashi, to the lift mavashi, to the sweepers we met on the way, to the canteen manager, to the store manager, and the librarian....every one was a delight to see.We also did not forget to thank them for doing their work well,on our way back. We also had some community helpers visit us from outside. Amongst the others, I think that the 'cobbler' was a novelty. It is important that our children know, that shoes could be repaired. Looking at the tailor at work was fun too! He stitched a small dress in front of us.His measuring tape looked interesting. The 'electrician' visited us in our classroom. The children were fascinated with the drilling machine, the wire ,the screwdriver and the pliers. Our meeting with the dentist was not very delightful ! Although the dentist was full of smiles, she made us feel sad, when she told us not to eat chocolates. Children came back to the class saying " Mein roj ek hi khaunga". Our in-house gardener, Sahadev kaka was very enthusiastic to show us how the garden was as important to him, as it is for the children. I am sure children love him the most. Children also loved to meet and talk to their bus driver in the class. Well, after all, he is one who takes them home!! With so much to listen and talk about, we surely are getting better at talking. Yes! our little ones are now trying to use English words when they talk to the teacher. The sentence mostly belongs to the mother tongue but strikingly emits English words. From 'no talk to English talk' , I think we have come a long way! And I am sure this will lead us to " only English talk" in school. At home, however, I suggest you should continue to use your mother tongue as a means of communication. They will pick up English anyway. Last but not the least, I must thank Mrs.Manjiri Mahajan, Reva Duraphe's mother for her help during our project display. Her enthusiasm and energy is the main thing that I have imbibed apart from her creativity ofcourse. The display in the atrium of our school is always worth taking a look at. Please stop by.The Pre-primary classes take turns and do it every month. This month it was us. I hope this letter has given you a clear picture of how the month has been for us.Please feel free to suggest any activities that you think I should repeat. This reminds me to once again thank Mr.Puneet Sakhuja for asking me to repeat certain activities as a re-inforcement. We value such suggestions and will do the needful. Hoping to hear from all of you.
Regards, Ashwini di and Deepa di.
