Subject – Rural Camp for Class VII-Olive

Dear Parents

As a part of the integrated curriculum, our Class VII students are going for an overnight rural camp. Here they stay and visit organizations working for the rural community, an initiative towards experiential learning. We look at this camp as an experience where they not only learn about science and social science-politics, civics, economy, culture but also in that process are sensitized to realities.

For this purpose, this year, Olives are visiting -Gram Gaurav Pratishthan-Pani Panchayat at Khalad, Saswad. This organization has worked for many years in the villages, where they have used the available resources, empowered people and enrolled the community and contributed towards their development. Children will be accompanied by their class teacher, Subject teacher and a service staff. Lodging and boarding have been arranged by the organization on their premises.

They need to carry-

Packed breakfast for 24^th November 2011

The students need to wear long pants/jeans , house T-shirt with sports shoes on 24^th and long pants , traffic campaign T-shirt with sports shoes on 25^th. They would have to carry their luggage and walk from the stop to the campus so please send only what has been asked for in a rucksack. The students should not carry-chewing gum, soft drinks, packaged junk food, I-pods, mobile phones or cameras. The teachers will carry cameras.

Travelling by local transport has been a conscious choice towards learning through experience. Moreover we won’t look like “social tourists!”

Departure –

Please drop your child at The Orchid School. - 6.00 am sharp on 24^th Nov Thursday. We will depart for Swargate PMPML bus stand at 6.20am.

Attendance for this trip is compulsory. Learnings from this experience will be incorporated into the classroom teaching, assessed and graded through projects and presentations.
